Cyclic corrosion testing is a more realistic salt spray test than conventional constant-state exposure. Because actual outdoor exposures typically involve wet and dry environments, it makes sense to simulate these natural, periodic conditions for accelerated laboratory testing. The study showed that the relative corrosion rate, structure, morphology and outdoor corrosion results of the samples were similar after cyclic corrosion testing. Therefore, the cyclic corrosion test is closer to the actual outdoor exposure than the traditional salt spray method. They can effectively evaluate many corrosion mechanisms, such as general corrosion, galvanic corrosion and crevice corrosion.
